Clinic - The Witch

This is taken from the new album "Do it!" due out on April 8th, 2008. I like this a lot, most poppy thing they have put out in a while. Not sure what all the bottles hanging above them are about.

For those in the Bay Area, they are at The Independent on May 19th, 2008 - Tickets, when they are available, will be on sale via TicketWeb.

On a more blog centric note, is it just me or have new videos dried up since SXSW? Anyway, I'll archive the March videos into their very own show some time over the next week - I'll revisit those that were not on YouTube to see if I can locate them.

Beggars - The Future

Updated with new video code
Okay, so they canceled Wednesday night's gig due to an accident involving a carving knife and a joint of beef - Details here

This single is due out on April 14th, and they are on tour in the UK into June with several dates with Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong.

Out of Reading, England, they have a sound that reminds a little of Starsailor.

There is an album in the can which I expect we will see later this year

Cassettes Won’t Listen - Paper Float

Shouts out, again, as deserved to Subteranean for this one.

I do not usually do this but to quote from Amazon"Though occasionally listed as a four-member band (with the made-up Kid Lucci on vocals, Jeh Walker on bass, Drehke on keys and programming, and Doc Torchaos on drums), Cassettes Won't Listen is in actuality the one-man project of multi-instrumentalist and producer Jason Drake, the director of marketing at underground hip-hop powerhouse Def Jux and co-founder of Dope Lotus Records."

On US tour dates I see a few NY dates so check out the website

Delays - Hooray

Hooray is what Delays shouted when they found out they were making a video with their very own cheer leaders. Having said that, the video is interesting in it's own right.

Taken from from the album "Everything's The Rush" due on May 5th (UK), "Hooray" will be released as a single on April 28th

They are currently on tour in the UK

Apologies for no postings yesterday, I didn't have anything together and was at the Facebook developer round table event in Palo Alto, CA

Hard-Fi - I Shall Overcome

Totally missed this video, but was not alone. These guys were one of the top acts out of the UK a couple of years ago. The single "Cash Machine" got a lot of play.

This track is taken from their second album "Once Upon a Time In the West" (West London I'm presuming.

Anyway, black and white video centered around a boxing match... The song is growing on me.

As for US Tour dates, the only date I see is April 12th, at the Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg TN - There has to be more?

Portishead - Machine Gun

Some people have waited a long, long time for this. There is finally going to be a new Portishead album, imaginatively titled "Third". Due out on April 29th, 2008 (US) and April 28th in the UK.

Only US tour date so far is at Coachella on April 26th.

Thanks to Pitchfork for pointing me in the right direction for this and there is an Official Portishead channel on YouTube as well.

This has a great industrial drum beat to it, but I agree it looks like it was filmed on a security camera with a VHS that has been used a few too many times.

The Whip - Trash

The debut album comes out next week (In the UK of course).

Check out their MySpace page for a live version of this track plus some other stuff.

They have a quite extensive set of UK dates, some forays into Europe and a short Australian tour BUT I do not see any US dates yet.

Another Kasabian in the making? But at least these guys are from my home town Manchester.

The Presets - This Boy's in Love

I am haunted by the 80s - I admit it. There's a little Human League in here somewhere. Good visuals.

Taken from the forthcoming album "Apocalypso" due out on May 23rd, 2008.

They are currently touring the UK, then Australia and then the US. Locally, they are appearing at The Mezzanine on May 21st and tickets are available here
Update: Note to self - Make sure to use official channels on YouTube - Video now from DailyMotion

The Mountain Goats - Sax Rohmer #1

Hold onto your stomachs - The continuous camera shot following the lyrics is quite a roller coaster ride.

Taken from the album "Heretic Pride". They are on tour now and have a couple of dates left in New York, Pennsylvania and DC before heading to Australia in April.

Oh yeah, and Happy St. Patrick's Day

Late of The Pier - Bears Are Coming

Who knew Tahoe would not necessarily have internert in every rental? Well, obviously not me. So, this is a little late, it was intended for Monday, but I'll try and catch up.

What can I say? Absolutely fascinating video. Kudos to NME for spotting this one (And Young Galaxy).

There's a free MP3 via their website and they are at a gig on London's Old Billingsgate (Fish Market?) on May 3rd plus I see 2 gigs on their MySpace page - Nottingham March 13th and Nass '08 June 13th

Album coming from Parlophone at some point in 2008.

The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age Of The Understatement

Tanks and ice skating for a Friday. Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys) & Miles Kane (The Rascals) are The Last Shadow Puppets. The album is due out April 22nd in the UK.

They apparently did an 8 song acoustic set in New York. Story in NME

The Kooks - Always Where I Need To Be

Alright, I'm essentially phoning this one in as I went to see the SOLD OUT The Raveonettes gig at the Independent last night. Whiplash Rock and Roll rules.

Anyway, back to the Kooks, this single is out on March 31st, 2008 from their forthcoming album "Konk" dut out in the UK on April 15th.
These guys were heavily hyped in the UK a couple of years ago, make up your own mind.
On tour, in the Bay Area at The Fillmore on May 22nd, 2008. Tickets? Can't find a listing? Anyone?

The Corrections - Barcode

Doomed to be known as The Corrections (UK). This is the first single from the forthcoming album "Repeat After Me". The single is out on April 7th, 2008. They are a 5 piece out of London.

This is a great track, and an ok video - I look forward to more from these guys. They could do with getting some tour dates out there and should probably be at SXSW
